Living Hope

Read 1 Peter 1:3-12

Life is full of unknowns and risks.  We don’t know how our day will unfold.  Some may experience one interruption after another and claim the day turned out nothing like they thought.  Some may hear news they never wanted or expected to hear.  Some may discover their long awaited dream is not coming true.  Some find their retirement efforts fell short….and the list goes on and on and on.

Ever hear of the saying, “life doesn’t go as planned”?   You see, life is fragile and completely uncertain!  Yet, our hearts long for a safe and certain outcome!  This is why this passage means so much to me and makes my heart feel safe. There are very few things we can know for sure in life, but found in this passage is a truth that I am assured is unchanging and guaranteed!

In this passage, Peter tells us that because of Christ’s resurrection from the dead, we have been given a “living hope”.  Notice it doesn’t say maybe or might have – it says “we have“!  He also says that our salvation is something that WON’T perish, spoil or fade and is kept in heaven.

This “living hope” is more than something you wish to have.  It’s not like hoping your day will go smoothly.  This kind of hope is a confident expectation of future blessing based on facts and promises.  It’s a hope that is solid and permanent.  Nothing. Will. Change. It.

So what is that we can know will happen with 100% guarantee?  It’s salvation.  One day we will come into the presence of God and be able to enjoy an eternal forever with Him in Heaven.
No matter what interruptions (whether mild or major) come into our daily life, we are remember to rejoice in this guarantee – our salvation.  No-thing will take it away because it is completely shielded by God’s power.

Today, you may be feeling as though it is hard to praise God with what you are experiencing.   Read today’s Bible passage.  Praise God for the certainty of salvation and fact that it is  imperishable, undefiled and unfading.

John 16:33 – “I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world.”

How might your day (even your week and beyond) look if you would remember everyday to greatly rejoice in the truth of the eternal hope that is yours through faith in Jesus Christ?  Think about this as you go through your week.  Start your day and end your day praising God for this guarantee.  See how it will change your thinking.  See how it will impact how you live out Christ living within you.

Have a Grace Full Week Showing Others the Living Hope Within You~
