1 Peter 4:12-19 – Continue To Do Good

1 Peter 4 19

Read 1 Peter 4:12-19

Life is going to hurt sometimes.  We will experience trials, pain and sometimes devastation.  As much as we would like to avoid life’s difficulties, there is no getting around them.  So what do we do?   In today’s verses, Peter instructs us on how we are to handle these times.  We are to:

  • Not be surprised – we should expect it – it’s inevitable as it is God’s purpose for our lives
  • Rejoice in them –  we need to respond with a worshipping attitude because God uses these times to make us look more like Him
  • Evaluate the suffering – we  must ask ourselves if this suffering is from a sin in our life or as a result of God’s righteousness in our life?
  • Commit ourselves to the Lord – we should continue to trust Him with the situation we face
  • Continue to do good – we are to seek, love and obey our faithful Creator

One day, hopefully soon, we will never have to face another trial…He will wipe away every tear….no more pain…no more crying (Revelation 21:4).  Until then, let’s choose to suffer with a good heart.

Take a moment to consider what God is teaching you today and reflect on these two verses as well:

“We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.  And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has give us.”  Romans 5:3-5

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”  Romans 15:13

Friend, lift your eyes from your circumstances and look to God who is your hope!

Have a Grace Full week continuing to do good!
