Foodie Friday – Easy Dessert!

The weather has been off the charts beautiful this past week!  I have wanted to spend very little time cooking in the kitchen so when I needed a dessert this past week for an event I hosted at my home, I wanted something easy and quick to prepare.  Here’s all you need:

  •  Angel food cake or pound cake (I choose store bought for sake of needing it to be super easy!)
  • 1/2 pint of heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tsp. orange zest (1 orange)
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • fruit to garnish (I chose raspberries and blueberries)

Directions:

  1. Slice cake into individual servings.
  2. Whip heavy whipping cream.
  3. Zest orange.
  4. Sprinkle sugar on top of orange zest and mix together
  5. Sprinkle sugar zest over the whipping cream; fold into whipping cream.
  6. Place a dollop of whipping cream on each slice of cake.
  7. Garnish with fruit.

It’s that easy!  To make it look like I went to a lot of effort, I garnished each plate with a mint leaf!  Ha ha!!  Well….I’m off to play outside!  Michigan summers are just the best!
