Summer Worship Wednesday – The Immeasurable Power of His Word

by Kathy

Journal and Bible

This summer, my heart has been deeply drawn to worshipping God by journaling scripture verses, focusing on the abundant power of God, His promises, His character and how these truths can be applied to my daily living and heart longings.   I love the sweet time of prayer that I have with God as I pray these scriptures back to Him, knowing there is perfect accomplishing power in them.  Isaiah 55:11 tells me this:

“so My word that comes from My mouth
will not return to Me empty,
but it will accomplish what I please
and will prosper in what I send it to do.”

Wanting to keep my journaling really simple, I bought a very cheap composition notebook.  On the front of it, I glued a piece of cardstock with Ephesians 3:20 printed on it – “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine  according to His power that is at work within us”

Inside the notebook, I am writing Bible verses in black ink.  Using other colors of ink, I write notes around the verses of what God is teaching my heart and what I am bringing in prayer before Him.  On days that I don’t add any verses to the notebook, I go back over previous entries and continue to pray these scriptures to God….seeking for His abundant power to move in ways that I cannot even imagine.  As prayers are answered, I am writing a description of how God is answering them.  Highlighting this has helped it to stand out and reminds me often to praise God over and over for answered prayers.

Honestly this has been such a sweet time with God and has truly transformed my prayer time.  It brings me peace on difficult days.  It draws my heart to God rather than towards self-absorbed thoughts (which can easily happen during journaling).  It is giving me confidence in praying, knowing that I am praying in alignment with God’s will.  It is giving me strength while waiting on answers.  It is showing me the abundant power in His Word and my heart cannot worship Him enough for this.
