Truth Tuesday – Our Burden Bearing God

by Kathy

psalm 55 22

I’m in a season of many concerns right now with a cloud of worries that easily want to pop up in my mind. The best part about these “cloudy days” is how God’s Word breaks through the clouds bringing the sunlight of His presence, warming me with His grace, guidance and the ability to trust Him completely.

Last week, I shared with you what God was showing me about Psalm 46:10 – Be still and KNOW that I AM GOD.  This week, when doubts crept into my thoughts, God gave me another verse to hold onto – Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” Psalm 55:22

This verse reminds me that God is the great burden bearer.  The One who sustains us.  But in order to know this part of Him, we must stop clutching so tightly to our anxious cares and choose to give Him all of our concerns.  This requires an effort or action on our part.

  • It requires trust to let go. Remembering that He is in control.  I will say to the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust (with great confidence, and on whom I rely)! Psalm 91:2
  • It requires humility recognizing our need for Him, His wisdom, and His work on our behalf. Remembering that life is not all up to us, but that we are dependent on His goodness and care over us. Understanding that we can’t see the big picture like He can. Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.” 1 Pet. 5:6
  • It requires letting go and surrendering all to the One who loves us perfectly and has a God-glorifying plan.  Cast (to throw, to fling) all your anxiety (cares, worries) on him, because he cares (shows concern for, watches over affectionately) for you.” 1 Pet. 5:7

God knows everything that concerns you and I today.  He is calling us to come to Him and cast every care His way.  He promises peace, rest and blessings.  Blessings that will be given in His timing and in His way.  And they are always greater than you or I ever could imagine!

Let me encourage you to cast all your cares…all your efforts…all your concerns….and with whole-hearted abandonment choose:

Trust.

Humility.

Letting go.

And be ready, with great anticipation, for our burden-bearing, miracle-working God to overwhelm you with His goodness and grace.

Wishing you a grace full week knowing God as your Burden Bearer.~
