Truth Tuesday – God is My Only Hope

by Kathy

Psalm 39 7Perhaps today you are struggling with doubts believing God can do anything…move the mountain in front of you…calm the raging waters you are swimming in…change your life.  When we find ourselves doubting God, it is so easy to lose hope.  Instead of falling into a downward spiral of hopelessness, let me encourage you today to look to God – to who He is – and be reminded that He is good and full of hope and possibility.

Take a moment to read these short reminders of who God is and allow your heart to be hope-filled.

He is Omnipotent — God is all-powerful. O Sovereign LORD! You have made the heavens and earth by Your great power. Nothing is too hard for You!” –Jeremiah 32:17. The all-powerful God made and controls the earth and everything in it all by Himself: “This is what the LORD says—your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the LORD, the Maker of all things, who stretches out the heavens, who spreads out the earth by myself.” — Isaiah 44:24.

He is Omniscient — God is all-knowing. “Who can fathom the Spirit of the LORD, or instruct the LORD as his counselor? Whom did the LORD consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge, or showed him the path of understanding?” — Isaiah 40:13-14

He is Omnipresent — God is present everywhere. “The Lord looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men. From the place of His dwelling He looks on all the inhabitants of the earth.” — Psalm 33:13-14

He is our Refuge — “God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1

He is Sovereign — God is the Blessed Controller of All Things! “Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all.” — I Chronicles 29:11-12

He is Victorious — “But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through Our Lord Jesus Christ.” — I Corinthians 15:57

He is Gracious — “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion.” – Isaiah 30:18a

He is Infinite — God is not restricted by space or time. “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!” – Romans 11:33

He is our Healer — “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” – Isaiah 53:5

He is Just — “Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!” — Isaiah 30:18

He is Immutable — God never changes. “He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind; for he is not a human being, that he should change his mind.” – I Samuel 15:29.

He is Faithful — “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.” – Deuteronomy 7:9

These are just a few of His attributes!  But oh how we need to pause and refresh ourselves with meditating on them often!  As you go through your week, ask God to show you how to apply His greatness to your particular situation.  Sing Him your praise.  Hope in Him.   Arise and lift your eyes to see His majesty.

But now, Lord what do I look for? My hope is You.

Psalm 39:7

Have a grace full week hoping in the name of the Lord.
