Truth Tuesday – Quiet and Still Seeking His Presence.

by Kathy

quiet be still

My calendar reminds me just how quickly Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years is coming. In just a few days, I will be celebrating Thanksgiving Day with my family, followed by weekend of searching to find the perfect Christmas tree and decorating our home for Christmas.

Just the other day, I found my mind racing towards making a mental list of all the gifts I want to give….all the recipes I want to make…all the things that I want to accomplish in the next few weeks…all the activities on my calendar. As my mind was busy putting all the details together, the Lord reminded me of my word for this year – “still”.  I felt the Lord urging me to not forget to plan time for being still – for holy quiet. To plan time for what is best – sitting in His presence, listening to His voice and celebrating Him.

This year, I thought it might be fun to include in my quiet time plan, the reading of a book written by a favorite author of mine. So in addition to reading God’s Word, I am going to be reading the book, The Women of Christmas by Liz Curtis Higgs, which includes a study guide that can easily be used to dig deep into God’s Word and discover heart application.

I would like to invite you to come along with me starting next Tuesday, November 25, for devotions that will go through the month of December, encouraging each of us to be still and to worship the Savior who brings joy to the world.  Some of them might be more than once a week. Plan to grab a cup of coffee and curl up in your favorite chair.  Mine is in front of my fireplace where I can gaze at my Christmas tree.   If you would like to read the book along with me, I will post the chapter reading assignments each week. If you choose not to, that is completely OK. You can simply read each week’s Grace Full Journey posting and allow God to speak through the devotionals to bring your heart to a place of “quiet and still” this Christmas.

I look forward to having you join me throughout the Holidays.  Together we’ll intentionally seek to make room in our hearts to be still and worship the King of Kings.

PS… Some of you have mentioned that you are having problems receiving my posts automatically through your email.  This is being worked on and should be corrected very soon.  The last few days have been pretty rough around here with my computer.  A vicious virus attacked my computer last week and just about destroyed everything.  Fortunately, most of the important things had been backed up and stored….things like my Bible teaching documents and pictures!  Needless to say, it was a bit of a hiccup, but I am happy to say it has all been handled.  Thanks to my son, Brandon!! (Thank you B for your constant willingness to help me out and serve the ministry of Grace Full Journey!  Love you to the moon and back!)

Have a grace full week ~
